Map format description

All of the static hardcopy maps found on our site have the same format for each map displayed below. Starting in the top left corner, is the Frontline GIS Solutions Logo. To the right of the logo, you will see the title of each map in a black colour. On the bottom right of the maps is the legend, which illustrates the different symbols used to depict the layers on the map itself. To the left of the legend is a light transparent grey strip containing the following, from right to left, respectively: A North arrow; Metadata including the Author of the map, the date which the map was created, and the Coordinate Reference System (CRS) used (all our maps were created with the WGS84 CRS); and the scale bar measured in kilometres. The final map element is the inset map found in the bottom left corner. The inset map shows an extended, zoomed out view of where the focus area of the larger map is found within Gauteng, South Africa. Finally, the centre of all the images displays the actual map and the layers involved for the necessary map.
